When someone dies, there can be so much to think about and organise. Choosing the right person to lead the ceremony shouldn’t add to that pressure.
My role is to make the ceremony part of the process as straightforward and personal as possible.
You don’t need to know what you want before you contact me. We can just have a conversation.
1. Get in touch
You can contact me by phone, text, WhatsApp or email.
Details are at the bottom of this page.
We can have an informal chat about what you are looking for, and I’ll answer any questions you may have.
You are also free to contact me directly. You don’t have to wait for a Funeral Director to arrange a celebrant for you.
2. We’ll have a conversation
If you decide you’d like me to lead the ceremony, we’ll arrange a time to talk properly.
Usually, I will meet with you and your family, either in person or, if necessary, by telephone or video call.
This is not an interview or a list of questions, it’s just a conversation about someone you know and love.
I’ll ask about their life, their family, their work, their friendships, their interests and the things that made them who they were.
I’ll want to hear the stories - all of them - the funny ones and the little details that might seem insignificant but actually tell us so much about a person.
3. I’ll help you shape the ceremony
From our conversation, I’ll begin to put together the ceremony.
We’ll talk about the structure, music, readings, poems, memories, photographs, rituals and who, if anyone, would like to take part.
If you want religious elements included, we can discuss those too.
If you’d prefer a completely non-religious ceremony, that’s absolutely fine.
There is no need to try to fit your family into a predetermined template.
4. I’ll craft a bespoke, completely individualised ceremomy
I’ll take everything you’ve shared with me and turn it into words that tell their story.
I’ll make sure the ceremony flows naturally and that the important people, memories and moments are included.
I’ll also send you my entire script well in advance of the ceremony itself so you have the opportunity to make any changes and make sure that every word I've used "sits" with you.
5. On the day
I’ll be there when you arrive to greet you and I'll take care of the ceremony itself.
You don’t need to worry about remembering what happens next.
I’ll guide everyone through the ceremony, introduce music and readings, and gently lead from beginning to end.
If family members or friends are taking part, I’ll make sure they know when and where they need to be involved
My aim is to allow you to be present in the moment.
A personal approach
I certainly would never deliver the same ceremony over and over again.
I firmly believe in really getting to know the person behind the name and crafting a very individual tribute to them.
My job is to listen carefully, find the words when you can’t, and create a ceremony that feels genuine to the person you are saying goodbye to.
Even if we have to start with a complety blank page, we will work it out together.
Some of the elements of this vocation that I find most rewarding is every time a family replies to a script telling me that it's "perfect" and every person after a ceremony who asks if I knew the deceased peronally as it was so accurate and approriate.
